Football Studies Course Overview
In the first year (Foundation Diploma), the curriculum focuses on deepening your football knowledge through the following units:
- Unit 1: Anatomy & Physiology (externally assessed) - Explore kinesiology and its application to football performance.
- Unit 2: Fitness Training & Programming for Health, Sport & Well-being (externally assessed).
- Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry - Research career options in football and strategies for employability.
- Unit 4: Sports Leadership - Learn about leadership psychology in football and apply this in coaching scenarios.
- Unit 5: Application of Fitness Testing - Conduct football-specific fitness tests and provide performance enhancement advice.
- Unit 7: Practical Sport - Participate in and analyze performance using industry-standard techniques.
- Unit 10: Organizing Sports Events - Collaborate with local clubs and organizations to support grassroots football.
In the second year (Extended Diploma), students will advance their studies with units such as:
- Unit 8: Coaching for Performance - Prepare for FA coaching qualifications and gain valuable industry experience.
- Unit 9: Research Methods - Conduct personal research to enhance team performance.
- Unit 17: Sports Injury Management - Learn about injury prevention and rehabilitation within football.
- Unit 19: Development & Provision of Sport & Physical Activity (externally assessed).
- Unit 22: Investigating Business in Sport & the Active Leisure Industry (externally assessed).
- Unit 24: Sports Performance Analysis - Assume the role of a Sports Analyst and contribute to team and individual performance development.
