Foundation Nursing & Healthcare

Course Overview

The International Nursing & Healthcare Foundation Programme is an intensive nine-month course designed to prepare international students for higher education in healthcare, such as nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, paramedic practice, and other health-related professions. This programme provides the academic and practical foundation for excelling in university-level health studies.

Key features of the course include:

  • 60 Level 3 credits: 45 graded and 15 ungraded.
  • English for Academic Purposes: Four hours of weekly tuition to help students develop the language and academic skills needed for success.
  • Real-world experience: Short placements through partnerships with the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, providing students with invaluable exposure to healthcare settings.

Entry Requirements

  • Academic: GCSE Maths at grade 4 (C) or equivalent.
  • English Language: IELTS UKVI score of 5.5 overall, with at least 5.5 in each component.
  • Additional: Applicants must be 19+ years old. Previous experience in health or social care is advantageous but not required.

Progression Opportunities

The programme offers direct progression to various health-related degree programs in higher education at universities such as Goldsmiths University and Winchester University. Upon completion, students will be well-prepared for careers in fields such as:
